Allen Road, Bedfordview, Johannesburg

Located within a narrow rectangular property in upper Bedfordview, Johannesburg this upmarket home had to cater for a large growing family with ample internal and external entertainment spaces. The brief was for a young easy going lifestyle. The use of steel, glass and natural materials had to be used extensively. A pre-fabricated structural design was chosen allowing the structural frame to be erected on site over a very short period of time thus eliminating a lengthy construction period.

Mendelsohn Ave, Dunvegan, Johannesburg

The brief was for the house to be redesigned completely. The view over the golf course second tee had to be maximised. The original foot print of the house was substantially increased to allow for a growing family with ample internal and external entertainment spaces overlooking the green belt. The house needed to portray the couple’s young and easy going lifestyle. A first floor slab was proposed to raise the structure from the ground; this elevation provided for greater views of the neighbouring golf course. Glass and natural materials were used extensively.

Zinkwaze Street, Mareletapark, Pretoria

This three bedroom house, situated in the Hillside Estate was created to provide a relaxed country-living lifestyle adjacent to the Wingate Golf Club. The clients brief was for a ‘Tuscan’ styled house with a simple free flowing layout utilising open comfortable living spaces. The bedrooms and entertainment area are north easterly facing allowing maximum light penetration.

Rayburn Street, Benoni, Johannesburg

The developers brief was for two similar designed houses that would match the surrounding house typology and design. The basis of the design was that of a traditional 1970’s home from this area, but with a modern twist. The orientation of the entire home is northwards with the focus of the design being the entertainment area. Open plan lounge / dining and kitchen areas complete this design style. Contemporary finishes and on suit bathrooms to each bedroom provide additional luxury these homes. Attention to detail through the use of sun control louvers to the double volume lounge area and entertainment patio controls the amount of direct light into these spaces.
